Facultatieve Technologies Expands Manufacturing Capability with New 20-Tonne Crane Installation
Facultatieve Technologies continues to grow and evolve, with our latest investment marking a significant enhancement to our Leeds manufacturing facility.
The recent installation of a 20-tonne capacity overhead crane is a strategic step toward expanding operational capacity and supporting the growth of our Pet Cremation product line.
This upgrade follows a comprehensive restructuring of our factory layout, and the operations team. While the new layout created a more streamlined environment, it also revealed limitations in lifting capacity and floor space usage, previously capped at 10t and causing workflow bottlenecks. These challenges highlighted the need for a more capable and efficient material handling solution.
Partnering with Commercial Property Repairs and Chesterfield Crane Company, we installed a 20-t overhead crane, complete with a wireless pendant control and a high-volume audible safety alarm. This upgrade was implemented not only to enhance safety and efficiency, but to futureproof our facility for the next generation of product development.
To ensure full compliance with health and safety protocols, the crane installation area was cordoned off throughout the project, with diversions in place to maintain workflow continuity. The crane will primarily be used for lifting and manoeuvring animal incinerators and cremators, significantly reducing manual handling time and increasing efficiency on the shop floor.
The benefits have been immediate. The new crane has opened valuable floor space, increased our production capacity, and enabled the implementation of a one-piece flow system for standard cremators. These improvements are expected to deliver a strong return on investment through increased throughout and reduced production time.
Feedback from our team has been overwhelmingly positive, with staff noting improvements to both the working environment and operational flow. Building on the success of this installation, our next planned investment will focus on acquiring two Master Movers to enhance the mobility and handling efficiency in the standard build section of the factory.
This is just one of the many steps Facultatieve Technologies is taking to support growth, improve manufacturing efficiency, and retain our place as global market leaders in the industry.
